Reopened services reduced need to travel outside of village
In recent years the village of Warsop Vale has seen the closure of both the post office and the sole village shop. The aim of the project is to open a general village shop, providing a full range of convenience store facilities to the people of Warsop Vale together with the reintroduction of Post Office services. Warsop Vale is a small ex-mining community (current population 450 residents) located 2 miles from the centre of Warsop, 5 miles north of Mansfield. The shop will be housed in premises that were formally used as a Community Centre, which has mainly fallen into disuse. Mansfield local district council owns the premises and have agreed to lease the venue for 7 years for a rent of £1 per annum. The business will be run as a community social enterprise set up by the Trustees of the Malcolm Sargison Resource Centre.
The need to travel out of the village to obtain services will be greatly reduced.
