South Warnborough Village Shop
Now you can surf the internet at village shop
If you want to surf the internet, pop down to the village shop. The new service is available at South Warnborough's village shop which is now playing host to a new kiosk machine, which has been installed to provide anyone who wants to use it with free access to vast amounts of useful information via the internet.
The pioneering facility has been introduced to offer internet access to people who do not have a computer. Funded by Hart and Hampshire County Council this new facility will provide net surfers wit access to many - although not all - websites.
So now anyone will be able to drop by the village shop and while they are using the post office there or buying a sandwich they can surf the net and find out anything from planning applications in the district on Hart''s new website, to railway timetables and flight information on the British Airways site.
The aim is that even if people are without a computer they will not be excluded from the information and services available on the net.

South Warnborough Village Shop and Post Office is owned by the Village Shop Association (SWVSA) who stepped in to save the village store from closure in 2000. The shop is leased to a local resident, Jo Hamilton, who has been running the store since 2001.
Famous for its freshly-baked bread, well-stocked deli, baguettes, Friday night fish and chips, coffee shop and all-day breakfasts, South Warnborough Village Shop is open from 7am-7pm Monday to Friday, 8am-2pm on Saturday and closed on Sundays. The shop stocks household goods, tinned produce, fresh fruit and vegetables, award-winning local cheeses, newspapers and cards, offers fax/photocopying, and acts as a drop off point for dry-cleaning and shoe repairs.
In 2008 the shop manager applied to the Hampshire County Council/SEEDA funded Village Community Grant Scheme for a specially equipped van to maintain and expand food sales, by delivering direct to local businesses and residents, including a lunch-time sandwich and pie service to local business parks. South Warnborough Village Shop was awarded the grant and acquired the van during November-December 2008. The side panels open upwards; and inside there is an oven to keep items piping hot, a chiller and fruit/confectionery storage area. Also inside is further storage and hand-washing facilities.
