A community owned shop based in the large-ish (pop. c.5500) village of Slaithwaite in the South Pennines. Created in record time, approximately 16 weeks from concept to launch, when it became clear that the pre-existing greengrocer's business was on the verge of closure. Financing raised via a community share issue.
One job saved and six others created, the shop operates in close partnership with worker cooperative The Handmade Bakery, and actively promotes local food.
