Frensham Village Shop
The Post Office shuts between 1pm and 2pm.
This small, friendly shop has been serving the local community since January 1996. Initially sited in the disused Butchers Shop, in December 2007 it moved temporarily to a large purpose-built ‘portacabin’ in the nearby Recreation Ground car park. In June 2011 the shop finally moved to permanent premises, the ground floor of a new Community building, which with 9 small houses has redeveloped a former garage site. All the moves have been within the same postcode!
Thanks largely to support from Plunkett, more than 20 villages made contact with a view to purchasing the now redundant cabin, and it was finally carried away to its new owners in December 2011, to be resurrected as a Community Shop in the near future.
With a professional manager, and two part time post-mistresses, the shop is also reliant on a large band of part-time volunteer assistants without whom the operation would not be viable.
