Barham Community Shop (Nailbourne)
On days when the Post Office is open in the afternoon, it closes for lunch between 1pm and 2pm.
There has been a fantastic response to the New Community-Owned Shop in Nailbourne. Since opening an increasing number of people are using it and the community is delighted to see people out and about in the village again. It has become a real social hub of the village.
Shop Managers Alan and Alka, have several initiatives in hand including a loyalty scheme for members (shareholders) and the village has been taking in the excess produce from their gardens and this is sold on a donation basis to the NCS (Nailbourne Community Store Assoc). The shop team are working very hard to get in the products that people in the village want and the shop is so well stocked for such a small place. There is bread from an excellent local baker, eggs from a small holding in the village and everything from tinned goods, packets, sauces and produce in the chiller.
The present shop is in temporary premises which were decorated by the year 6 children from the nearby primary. It is situated on the Village Hall site in the middle of Valley Road, Barham, Kent.
