Who is the most exciting celebrity to have visited your community shop?
John Bercow, Speaker of the House of Commons, drops in (he should anyway, he's our MP) and also opens our Food Fayre each year. Whether I would say he was "exciting" ............... Hmmmm!
Damon Hill, a local resident who normally keeps a low profile, agreed to open our new shop last June, and performed the role very well. We had a great crowd there, and I suspect more than a few came to see him.
Carole Boyd - Linda Snell from The Archers - opened our shop in 2010. We have The Countess of Wessex visiting us on 21st March 2012.
Our main benefactors are Lord & Lady Jay. They rent us our building at an incredibly generous rate, and are always on hand for special events etc. Lady Jay also volunteers behind the counter when she is available.
Katy Hill (Blue Peter & BBC Childrens presenter) and Trey Farley (BBC Childrens presenter) also live in our village and frequent the shop.
We've also recently found out that they are filming Les Miserables in our local churchyard later this month, so we're hoping that Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman will pop in for a cup of tea and piece of cake!
Chris Haden from Tewin Stores mentioned that Jake Wood from Eastenders has visited their shop. Also Keith Burkinshaw retired footballer and Manager (he helps out in the shop).
We were lucky enough to have Julie Walters open our shop in June 2010, along with Nick Herbert our local MP (and of course James Alcock of Plunkett fame!!)
Julie Walters comes in fairly regualrly to deliver us eggs! As customers we've also been visited by Greg Rusedski (lives locally), Rula Lenska (remember the Rock Follies?), and Jodie Kidd (model and all round sports woman)
