The internet is increasingly becoming used by community shops to promote new product ranges and to keep customers updated with the goings on of the shop. One shop that has been successfully using the internet to their advantage is Slindon Forge who have used the site to remind the community about when meetings are happening: www.slindonforge.co.uk
They have also set up Twitter and Facebook pages which you can ‘follow’ and ‘like’ at:
- Twitter: @SlindonForge (https://twitter.com/#!/SlindonForge)
- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Slindon-Forge/145062685626378
We'd love to hear how your shop is using the internet!

Though our shop has not yet opened, we have found the internet useful to inform the village of our progress, regarding planning applications to the local council as well as place a video of" 10 things you might want to know about the village shop" to help dispel rumours etc. and enthuse more of the village by the idea. This has been particularly pertinant to us, because the whole process has been a long one and it has been important to keep the village informed and on board during this long lead up towards work starting and the shop opening. At present we have an excellent team who run the village website so the shop has its own area on the website. The website sends alert emails to those who have consented within the village whenever anything new is added to the site.
Our website is www.beechhillvillage.co.uk
