The Plunkett Community Shop Network (PCSN) is a membership scheme run by and for community shops with the Plunkett Foundation. The PCSN takes advantage of the purchasing scale of community shops in the UK (£35m) and provides the mechanism for shops to be better represented at a national level. With 268 currently trading in the UK, and opening at a rate of 20 a year, there has never been a better time for community shops to come together and work together. One of the benefits secured by the Network is green energy procured through the Co-operative Group. This means that members of the PCSN can now purchase electricity at the same rates as the Co-operative supermarkets and other businesses, potentially saving £00s each year. Other purchasing benefits include insurance, chip and pin services, Epos terminals and software, and retail fixtures and fittings.
